ZEBULON, N.C. (January 24, 2008) – Nomacorc, the world’s leading producer of alternative wine closures, has improved on the performance of its flagship Classic product with the introduction of Nomacorc Classic+.
“Nomacorc Classic is the world’s leading alternative wine closure,” said Lars von Kantzow, president and chief executive officer of Nomacorc. “We are proud to bring to the industry the next generation of this product, which is evidence of our continued dedication to innovation and product performance excellence.”
Using breakthrough advances in the company’s co-extrusion technology, Classic+ delivers a 33% lower oxygen transfer rate than Nomacorc Classic, significantly increasing a wine’s oxidation resistance. In addition, new materials and processes used in the production of Classic+ provide improved ease of removal from both the bottle and the corkscrew as well as smoother reinsertion of the closure into the bottle. Because of its low-density composition, Classic+ has the added environmental benefit of a lower carbon footprint.
“Nomacorc continues to invest heavily in research and development,” said Malcolm Thompson, vice president of quality and technology of Nomacorc. “Recent developments in our processing technology allow us to offer customers a superior product in Nomacorc Classic+.”
Like all Nomacorc closures, Nomacorc Classic+ consists of a foamed inner core layer and a flexible outer skin. The patented co-extrusion production method creates closures that are highly uniform, providing precise and predictable oxygen transfer rates and protection from cork taint, leakage, breaking and crumbling for thousands of wineries around the world.
Nomacorc Classic+ is available in the same selection of sizes, colors, chamfered edge and custom artwork as Nomacorc Classic. All Nomacorc products are fully recyclable with LDPE food packaging.
